I've now finished drawing the last pages of Doctor Who #12 (on the shelves this June), bringing my run on the book to a close. But there are still more issues to be released.

Two people have asked if that guy based on my father. My dad is older and has hair loss, but not that old, and not that much hair. But yeah, I do draw the character a bit Cheney at times. But no, it's based on this character -- Mr. Crane -- except an alternate/mainstream universe version of him. Of all the likenesses I drew in this book, I think he's unfortunately my worst one. And he's such a minor character, most people don't recognize him. Actor sounds just like Michael Caine, for what that's worth.
Fun fact: that wiki I linked has an entry on me, and I didn't write it and don't know who did (as evidenced by the fact they called me "American-born"). |

I don't get it today anyway. The Plattsburg shipping hub of Diamond Comic Distributors fucked up and so no one on the east coast gets this issue until next week. West Coast might be luckier. International -- it'll be tough. |

| I realize that weaknesses in our dollar (shaky real estate markets, wars, economy/job woes) inflate the value of Gold...but I'm not reacting to that.
A year ago, gold was selling for between $700-$850/oz and last November we had many of the problems we have today.
As I write this, Gold has skyrocketed to an unbelievable $1170/oz.
It touched $1200/oz earlier today.

here This one is called "How High Can Gold Go" and, again, as a counterpoint, it makes you think gold is actually REASONABLY priced.
A friend recommended a few funds that specialize in profiting in banks and real estate (two different funds) when things go bad. I'm now deciding on investing in those or shorting gold...

| | my gut | | Gaul's reply on Nov 24th 2009 5:56pm EST |
| Great points Dave. Although I don't have any actual evidence as to when the gold market will crash, it is inevitable. The fact that any soccer mom can hawk her old gold suggests that either the gold market will be flooded, or that the gold will be burrowed away to keep the market artificially high. free market economy my arse. I believe the next big thing, will be the energies futures market for renewable energies (solar, wind, water, etc). I forsee in the next 10 years, partially due to the green initiatives world wide, we'll see a spike in investments and that will be the next market to inflate. |

| All in attendance at the last event agreed we should do this more often. Well, put up or shut up I say so I'm offering to host the next event here at the Hizz. We actually get delivery from a pizza place now (plus, you know, the restaurant nearby) and I've got a guest bedroom, futon mattress and a couch. I can pick up a couple aerobeds as well. Oh, and I have a poker kit. Real chips. (gasp) Anyway, I'm free the following weekends: Dec 5th, Dec 12th or Dec 19th. Choose your poison and bring your cash. What say you? |

If anything for me, if I make it home at all it will be the week of x-mass (possible that weekend before). | I'm definitely down for taking all of your money again... i'm sure almost any of those weekends would be alright for me but if i had to pick one i'd say the weekend of the 12th just in case there are loose ends to tie up on the weekend before xmas (and by loose ends that most likely means all my last minute xmass shopping)... |

You’ve done it.
You’ve actually done it.
I’m not sure how, and it will take many more viewings to isolate the specific reasons…but somehow, some way, you’ve created the worst movie ever made.

Hell, even "Showgirls" looks Oscar-worthy next to it.
G -- TOTALLY watch it. Actually:
1) Open a bottle of wine
2) Drink it
3) Open another bottle and start the movie. >
Also, I tried to put formatting in my open letter (above) but DSN ate all my paragraphs. Can't edit it, either *shrug*
