| Check out the following incredible videos from a Law Professor and a Police Officer (Prof. James Duane of the Regent University School of Law and Officer George Bruch of the Virginia Beach Police Department), both offering their advice what you should say when questioned by an officer of the law. The quick answer: Nothing. Prepare yourself for some of the clearest, most eye-opening, most common-sense advice you're likely to receive this year - well worth 45 mins of your time. Trust me. |

| Thank you for posting that.
I had a short internship at a law office, and the lawyers there stressed how important it is to KNOW YOUR RIGHTS (know the law) even if you're not a lawyer.

| Just for the purpose of throwing up a new post... curious to hear what everyone's opinion is on the Michael Vick situation... i definatley think its a shame that after making as much money as he does, he can't leave that ghetto mentality behind... im looking forward to seeing him do a good solid year behind bars... such a waiste of f#%$ing talent.... |

I had never seen that skit either - hilarious! The phrase 'Mo money mo problems' comes to mind.
I'm a sports fan like many here on DSN but seeing stories like this on a weekly basis begs the question "Why do we pay these guys so much?" Certainly not the type of people we want the youth of America trying to emulate. |
| | Skill? | | Bernat's reply on Jul 27th 2007 1:53pm EDT |
| Really? The guy can run fast, sure. But he's got below-average passing ability and certainly no head for the game. I'm not trying to be a hater, 'cuase he's damn entertaining to watch...but he's a good QB...not a great one.
Also don't forget the trouble his brother got in. I guess it runs in the family. |

| Yeah I was gunna mention this clip. I had never seen the "Oh Really?!?!" Skit before until a month or two ago: here it is, I about pissed my pants.
But yeah. This guy and Lohan really drive home the concept that if you don't have your head on and you get a bunch of money ... it can really end up working against you. Definitely sad considering his skill and where he came from. |

| I think there is a great old SNL clip available on youtube that covers Vick pretty well. It's a Weekend Update "Oh Really" segment. Very funny stuff...if someone finds it, post the link. |

| | No solution... | | tk's reply on Jul 18th 2006 12:05am EDT |
| It's easy to call Bush a fool and dismiss the war in Iraq as a huge mistake. However, those who are anti-Bush also have no solution to the crises in Iraq or the Middle East in general. Saddam was a maniac, but I believe that the US declared war for the wrong reasons and rushed into it. Now we are paying for it. However, I also find it hard to believe that diplomacy would have worked. We have failed to truly understand the Middle East mentality and the reasons for their hostility towards us. It doesn't matter how advance our guns are or how strong our military is, they will always win. They have the most powerful weapon - fear itself. We are at their mercy because we are so afraid of another attack on our soil. Every step on the subway, every flight we take could be our last. Israel, again, is currently trying to overpower Hezbollah with their military might. The bombing of Lebanon is only causing more rage in the region and providing fuel to its leaders to unite the people against Israel and the West. To this day, the countless military aggression of Israel and the West has solved nothing but ignite more terrorist attacks and killed innocent civilians around the world. In the end, there are two ways to fix the problem in the Middle East - either invite Osama Bin Laden to a tea party and squash the beef or turn the region into a parking lot. There is no in between. Extreme problems call for extreme measures but neither are feasible solutions. |

| I'm not debating the justifications (or lack thereof) of attacking Hezbollah in Lebanon, but I will point out that prior to bombing Hezbollah targets, Israeli warplanes dropped paper, not bombs. The information provided to the Lebanese people warned them to avoid Hezbollah buildings because they were going to be attacked. One could argue as to the affectiveness of such actions, but considering Hezbollah is a recognized part of the Lebanese political system (they hold several seats in parliment), I'm guessing it's not easy to fight Hezbollah and avoid fighting the Lebanese. |

| Syria I think. That'll let the Bush administration point to their use of diplomacy with Iran and N. Korea while we expand our empire further.
Meanwhile, everyone will get super-pissed at us ... oh wait, they already are. |

Fuck you Dubbah, your lies make me sick
You’re just Cheney’s puppet, his blinking little Dick
Fuck their stupid war, with motives so bunk
If I meet Rummy one day, I’ll kick him in the junk
Palestine and Judea, sacred lands of ours
So why do we focus on the gas for our cars?
Our nation is torn, by collectives of hate
So speak your mind now, and vote in ‘08

| While I'm loathe to jump on this bandwagon, the story is undeniably important in both its political and civil rights implications. I'm not sure you can be human and not have seen something about this somewhere but the quick rundown is this; shortly after Sept 11, Bush authorized the National Security Agency (legally a non-domestic intelligence agency) to turn it big ears inward at over-seas phone calls being made from within the United States. His justification was that some of the 9/11 hijackers were living within the US previous to the attack and had made phone calls back home to receive instructions. Now, by charter the NSA is forbidden from domestic (inside the US) intelligence gathering but Bush's edict changed that and the big media-hype question now has become, did Bush commit a federal crime by ordering this intelligence gathering? Truthfully, I don't give two shits. The man did this as President so he's protected from criminal liability. What worries me is that this was our first gigantic (publicly divulged) leap forward towards a frightneningly 1984-esque state.

1984 indeed. Seems the federal government also enjoys tracking your location via your cell phone too, among other things. There arent enough people willing to stand up for civil liberties these days, but here's a short list of those who are fighting the good fight.

ACLU - American Civil Liberies Union

| According to CNN, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani is thinking about a bid for the Republican nomination for Prez in 08. Considering how much he accomplished for NYC and how much his leadership helped to bolster a stricken and panicked city on Sept 11, I wish him well. I however, despite his leadership record, will not be voting for him. |

| Some of you may have already heard or read me rant about how Mercury is asinely still used in vacines and it amounts to a massive dose of the stuff when you're born. Not suprising, there are a number of studies that link immunization rates with the increase in Mercury-caused disorders such as autism. It looks like after years of denying it, the story may break, but obviously
the cover up is in the works by those making tons of money.
Further proof the FDA is a sham and a puppet for big medical companies. |
