10:14pm | gratification | so i keep having this irrational fear that strohl will do some "webcleaning" and i'll try to sign in and be denied as a meatbag for lack of frequent usage. But then my access is granted once again and my fears are assuaged. Can i just say that, y'all rock? And hopefully i'll see you in the spring!

1:53pm | please help! | guys i need mad help... i'm (finally) back in school - going to depaul, downtown, and need to make a video clip project on the computer for a class - its due monday. i have this really cool program that will let me extract a dvd straight from the dvd player and mess it up and have lots of fun with it. problem is, it comes with a cd to install the program. i have two laptops - one really slow and useless one that has a cd drive, and one really neat and new superfast computer that does not. i have been transferring the information required for the program from the shitty computer to the good computer with an attace usb thingy, but have run into a problem. there is ONE file that is too large for my usb thingy - its 2.6 gigs or something. and i have been trying to connect the two computers with a cable to get it through but im not having much luck - mostly because i have no idea what im doing. im sure there is an easier way and i figured you guys were the best to turn to. i would really appreciate any help you could offer me. please please time is running out :) happyhayls@yahoo.com |

7:16pm | LEGALITY!!!! | so i turned 21 tuesday at midnight - so technically wednesday - and we hit the neighborhood bar at midnight-oh-one. the guy narrowed his eyes at my id and then back at me for a good five minutes before finally serving us - at which point i resolved to have my picture retaken upon the morrow. ah, the morrow. my new id bears a sadly striking resemblance to that of my mother - the blonde bitch - but looks much better than the sad 17-year-old brunette on my former license. wore a crystally white-feathery tiara all wednesday night and told every single soul i met that day "ITS MY BIRTHDAY!" some smiled, some congratulated, some bought me drinks. niiiice... didnt get that drunk, though. guess im gonna have to try that again. |

12:53am | road trip! | so my new vision: im going to travel around the country in my little red shaggin dragon, spending a week in a particular city of each state. i will spend that week working at a starbucks, and at the end of the year i shall compile my notes and create the starbucks memoir. oday, you of course shall accompany me on this venture. with the profits of our book - sure to become a staple on the coffeetables of starbucks around the world - we shall buy a small farm in virginia and spend the rest of our days weeding and hoeing.... yeah, thats right. sound fabulous? i thought so. |

3:38pm | choices | mini update on the what-in-heavens-name-does-hayls-think-shes-doing scene... so culinary school is out. i cannot fathom preparing spaghetti and meatballs or even coq au vin every day for the rest of my life. and i dont remember any italian besides "ciao bella" so the journalism internship in rome isnt gonna happen. and my parents arent too keen on sending me to toss back the guinness and kiss the blarney stone so the teaching job in ireland is out. so its to dartmouth here i go. again. on my own.. |

7:33pm | water removal | so the sky let out sheets today, and the herchenbach family put aside our differences to attack the leak in the basement. did i say leak? i meant, all-out flood. so the family of floodfighters banded together and one hour, six rolled-up-to-the-knees-way-cool pairs of pants, four full buckets, and forty-three sopping towels later, we have averted the crisis. such is my life. satisfied, oday? |
